Recommendation

Progress to a targeted technical exercise if automation implementation is essential. This example supports further assessment; it does not support an unconditional hiring recommendation.

Evidence against agreed criteria

Illustrative observations, not numerical candidate rankings
CriterionAssessmentObserved evidence
Risk-based test planningDemonstrated in this exercisePrioritised payment and access-control risks; explained why lower-impact cosmetic checks could wait.
Defect investigationPartly demonstratedSuggested useful logs and a reproducible test case, but needed prompting to separate an environment issue from an application defect.
Stakeholder communicationDemonstrated in this exerciseExplained release risk in business terms and proposed a clear escalation decision.
Automation designNot assessedNo coding or framework exercise was included. The discussion alone is insufficient to establish implementation ability.

Follow-up before a decision

Assessment integrity

Agree permitted AI and other tools before the session. Use live follow-up questions, changes to the scenario and explanations of the candidate’s own work to test understanding. Record observed inconsistencies and limitations without treating them as proof of misconduct.

Limits and ownership

An interview is a sample of performance in a specific setting. It cannot guarantee future job performance or the absence of undisclosed assistance. Identity checks, references and background screening are separate unless explicitly included. The hiring team retains the final decision.
